The Outreach Ministry Center is a multi-use space for many programs and services such as: Personal Identification Program (I.D.’s & birth certificates), transportation, homeless services, budgeting classes, resume writing, applications for housing & social security, computer center, job skills classes & job search assistance, Gear Up/Career Gear clothing assistance, prison re-entry services, utility & rental assistance, and more.
The Help Center has partitioned workstations where experienced volunteers assist guests with many essential services described above.
Guests can do a load of laundry or take a shower.
Personal identification documents are required for receiving many types of services such as Social Security benefits, food and housing assistance, and Medicare. Many homeless people do not have any type of personal identification. Volunteers in the Help Center assist to get birth certificates, Social Security cards, and State I.D.'s
Mentoring, budgeting, and direct aid are provided to those having serious difficulty paying their utility bills. Each request for assistance is evaluated and a plan developed involving the utility company, community partners, and the resident. The goal is to avoid utilities getting turned off leading to eviction.
In a similar manner, requests for transportation assistance, usually in the form of bus tickets, provide individuals a way to get to appointments and work so they can remain employed.
